KMS Coaches' Corner

5. You've been walking cautiously through the hallways repeating the phrase, "Mimios and weeblies and dongles...oh, my!"

4. You find yourself editing a wiki at 11:30 at night and actually enjoying yourself.

3. You've talked to other members of your department more in the last month than you did the entire last school year.

2. If you learn one more new thing, you think your brain will actually explode.

1. You're EXCITED about the possibilities for student learning this year!

Odds are, you are feeling a little overwhelmed with the new technology, information, skills, ideas, etc. that IMPACT grant/training brought into our world.  We just want to remind you that we coaches are here to support you in whatever ways you need.  Don't feel like you have to be an expert on everything we learned during IMPACT week.  In fact, we suggest that you just take one or two things that you really liked and focus on those.

Not only do you have us coaches for support, but your fellow colleagues are becoming experts on their favorite things, too!  We have enjoyed watching teacher leaders pop up all over the building.  Let's all continue to share our strengths with each other and reach out for help when we need it.  Coaches included!

Congratulations, Bob, on being the first one to comment! Your prize is on its way!

But let's get some more comments on here. How is everyone dealing with being overwhelmed???

I love the way you've set up this website, and even as a Vanguard person I was/am feeling overwhelmed! One thing I have to keep reminding myself is to take it one thing at a time, and to make things SIMPLE. I don't have to have earth-shatteringly complicated stuff right away. That's how I'm dealing.

Thanks for your hard work!

thanks for letting us reserve technology from a website, it makes it easier to plan from home or other work. i hope that you are able to figure out how to publish the schedule so that we can check laptop availability.

great job. i don't know what google apps are/is?

I am excited and overwhelmed at the same time. Like Tiffany, I need to keep reminding myself to take my time and it's all about baby steps! I hope the kids are as excited as we are!

A suggestion: Couldn't we use a GOOGLE Calendar (posted to this website) where each laptop cart is a differnt color (same with the Quizdom) so we could see a calendar when we're trying to sign up?

Beth tried Google Calendar but the details of the calendar are so complicated that it didn't fit...However, we only tried it as one calendar. I like the idea of having each one a different calendar/color.We'll see what Beth thinks. She IS trying to put it on Google Docs to give online access. Thanks for your creative thinking!

My head is swimming!New school, new curriculum, new technology! I feel disjointed right now, like we have so many different wikis and weeblys, I cannot keep straight where I am supposed to go for what! I am getting there though. Thank God for Diigo.

I know that all of this is overwhelming but it all worth it when the kids get excited. The other day my 4th block mentioned how cool it was that all of the teachers had mimio because last year they had to share and they never really got to use it. Also, a couple of "tricks" that the kids and I were able to figure out:
1. If you use the white remote to the projector you can hit the zoom button to make information on the screen larger. Then you can use the up and down scroll buttons to move through the paper.
2. If you want to give notes using mimio tools but don't actually want to use the mimio pen to write, you can pull the notes up on mimio and then write with a dry erase marker. It looks like you are writing on the mimio still.
Just a couple of thoughts! Have a great day:-)
